Donny van de Beek has become the latest player to officially sign for Manchester United. The 23-year-old Dutchman has penned a five-year-long deal at Old Trafford with the option to extend a further year.

The football fraternity was certainly caught by surprise by this deal, especially given how quickly the Red Devils were able to wrap it all up. The reactions from across the board speak volumes in this regard.

Many of his Manchester United teammates were ecstatic to see the addition.

In fact, Marcus Rashford has been following the saga along with the fans. He had an early reaction along with Bruno Fernandes when a major breakthrough was reported during the weekend and now once more upon the official announcement.

Mason Greenwood also had a curt response to his new teammate, stating: “I have seen some of his stuff and he looks like a good, promising player, so that’s good.”

The transfer was also a great one for Netherlands and Ajax as a club as a youth academy graduate made the ascent to the Premier League.

Robin van Persie, one of the greatest players from the country to function in England, was especially happy for the youngster, stating: “Donny will be brought in as a major purchase from Manchester United, but he will discover that those other 22 players have also been brought in as a ‘major purchase’. One had an even bigger transfer than the other.

“It means that he has to stand there right away and he has to mentally adjust to that. Because Manchester United is in every way a beast of a club.”

His compatriots Virgil van Dijk and Frenkie de Jong also had apt reactions, wishing him all the best.

Rio Ferdinand was following the deal closely and had some interesting social media banter with Edwin van der Saar. His reaction to the official announcement was quite something as well.

Van de Beek is United’s first major signing of the summer and fans will be eagerly waiting for more as the side hopes to bolster their chances at regaining lost glory.
