As per the UEFA's league coefficient, the La Liga has been the topmost football league in Europe for the last five years. The competition has produced Europe's top-rated clubs more number of times (18) than any other league. The major powerhouses playing in La Liga have also won the most number of UEFA Champions League (16) as well as UEFA Europa League (10) titles.

The Spanish League is currently home to two of the best football players of this generation – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. La Liga has always featured the best footballers on the planet; in fact, superstars featuring in this league have won the highest number of Ballon d'Or awards (19).

La Liga is contested by 20 of the best clubs in Spain. Each team faces the 19 others two times per season, from the month of August to May.
